The Portland Pheonix
Kevin Donoghue’s public-policy experience will be crucial as the city deals with complicated economic, crime-related, and development issues. Donoghue is nothing if not dedicated, and his ubiquitous presence at local meetings and events speaks to his commitment to fostering community.
Sandy Amborn
Kevin has brought a courageous and holistic voice to Portland’s city council. His dedication to public policy and to Portland has helped to advance the city’s work in alternative transportation other sustainable policies that are shaping a healthier and more vibrant community for us all. I can’t imagine the East End without him!
Sarah Cushman
As a member of a one-car family, I walk and bike and take the bus quite a bit – and Kevin has been open and responsive to our family’s inquiries about safe walking and biking conditions and improved transit service. No matter how you look at the issues – from an economic, safety, health, or environmental angle – he’s the best representative District One has ever had on the City Council.
Kirk Goodhue
Island voters should feel fortunate to have the rare opportunity to send back a representative who is as sincere, hardworking, innovative, and thoughtful as Kevin Donoghue to the City Council. In his first term, he followed through on those areas he promised to pursue with more than a little bit of success. What a novel idea that is! He is someone who listens to his constituents and actually follows through on his promises. What more can we ask of the person who represents us? Kevin has earned three more years on our City Council.
Markos Miller
Kevin has worked tirelessly to create housing opportunities in District One and to improve transit options for the Greater Portland area. His staunch support of Community Based Planning and neighborhood initiatives such as the Revisioning of Franklin Street has been refreshing. Without Kevin we would not have a Transit Plan, updated zoning ordinances, an East Bayside Neighborhood Plan, a Maine State Pier Public Workshop, A School Facilities Study, or a Franklin Redesign Study. I’m voting to keep Kevin’s leadership and vision on the City Council.
Stacy Mitchell
Thanks to Kevin’s leadership, Portland has made huge strides in developing a transportation policy suited to the challenges of the 21st century, including progress on Franklin Street and improvements that enhance our options for walking, biking, scootering, and transit. The more people have the option of leaving their car behind, the better for Portland’s economy, particularly our locally owned neighborhood and downtown businesses.
Jamie Parker
As a resident of Munjoy Hill and a parent of two children attending East End School I have been grateful to have Kevin Donoghue looking out for this neighborhood. From helping steer funding towards our school, working with Portland Trails and the City to improve trail and sidewalk connections, and improving safety on our streets by requesting stop signs; Kevin has been very responsive to the needs of Hill families.
Belinda Ray
Kevin Donoghue has been an amazing resource for the residents and businesses in Portland’s 1st District over the last three years.
One of the most refreshing things about having Kevin on the City Council is his ability to operate in a proactive manner. He is constantly checking in with his constituents, attending neighborhood meetings, and educating himself so that he can advocate for Portland and make well-informed decisions on issues ranging from green building initiatives to public safety.
Kevin’s love of Portland and his commitment to helping both the city and its residents thrive is evident in his thoughtful manner and the thoroughness with which he approaches the decisions that will affect our community. He is always available to answer questions, chat about public policy, or listen to concerns, and he is eminently approachable, kind, and authentic. For these reasons and many more, I am proud to support him in his campaign for re-election to the Portland City Council.
Diane Russell
I am pleased to support Kevin for his re-election because his work as chair of the transportation committee has shepherded in some great advancements – including the new carsharing program in District One.
Ron Spinella
I’ve had many opportunities to work with Kevin and observe his efforts first hand. My experience with him dates back to his days as a graduate student when he became very involved with the Bayside community and devoted his time and talent to various initiatives. He has continued to demonstrate a commitment to work with our community and tackle some of our more challenging issues. Kevin has always been willing to challenge the status quo, but also has a pragmatic side which is helpful and necessary in working with our diverse stakeholder group. Kevin’s service on the Portland City Council has benefitted Bayside, District One and the City of Portland. I wholeheartedly support his re-election.
